Biggin Hill Branch - 30/12/11 11:25 AM

At the monthly branch meeting in October it was decided by a majority vote that the Biggin Hill Wing branch would close its doors with effect from 31st december 2011. The decision was confirmed at the final meeting in December and on Thursday 15th December, witnessed by some fifty members and guests the branch standard was laid up in St George's RAF Chapel of Remembrance at Biggin Hill. The branch was founded in 1986/7 and few of the founding members would have believed at that time that it would last for 25 years, said the President and founder-member, Peter Lemon, in his final address in the branch's December newsletter. On this sad occasion a long list of Absent Friends was brought to mind as with great sadness "the lights were switched off". So many lovely memories of so many great guys.
There are plans to hold informal lunch meetings in the future and for details of these, address enquiries to Eric Smith, 4 The Chase, Bexleyheath, Kent DA75AT. Phone 01322 556151.

Further to my recent post regarding the closure of the Biggin Hill Wing, I have to notify members of the death yesterday of long-time member Eric Smith who had formulated plans to hold lunchtime meetings of other interested members of the Branch during the coming months.
As of now, anyone wishing to make contact with the remaining members of the Biggin Hill Wing should contact myself in the first instance at or on 01797 253341.
