Dear All,

I have been asked to publicise this by the daughter of a 630 Sqn pilot - the campaign for a Bomber Command medal will not be news to you, but the petition may be:

"I am the daughter of Freddie Watts DFC who died last year aged 87. He served as a pilot on 617 Squadron and 630 Squadron during World War 2 and continued in the RAF until the 1960s. He always felt that Bomber Command had been ignored with regard to a campaign medal specific to them and now that everyone seems to being recognised including the Bevan Boys and the Land Army (who of course contributed to the War effort), I think it is time to get them recognised. They were at the very point of the sharp end and over 55,000 died. 30,000 of these brave men are still alive and they should be recognised before it is too late. My dad was a member of Breckland ACA and we donated some of the money we received at his funeral to that branch.
To try and stir up some interest I have placed a petition online on the No 10 site:
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/ForgottenRAF/. I would be very grateful if you could cascade this to your membership as the more signatures we obtain the better.
Many thanks for your time.
Rosemary Smith"
