Researching my fathers war record, who was an RAF 'Y' service WOP in India/Burma. After an entry for 2 & 9 RC, (Reception Centre) at Cardington in July 1940, there is an entry for Stn Leconfield, but no date. After that there are entries for No 10(S) RC, and 2W 2SS, which are I understand to be the WOP, (Wireless Operator), training establishments at Blackpool and Yatesbury. Was Leconfield therefore a streaming or Selection centre for would be aircrew, and as such would he have been selected initially for WOP/AG there? I can find nothing in searches regarding Leconfield history that would be attributable to my father presence relevant to being WOP/AG trained. Any information would be grateful.
