Christmas Greetings from Afghanistan

Wg Cder Murmane
The Woking and District AirCrew Association's very successful Christmas luncheon at the Camberley Heath Golf Club had as its guest of honour Wing Commander Jon Murnane, the Officer Commanding No 18 Squadron at RAF Odiham.

The Chinook helicopters of the Squadron's A Flight are currently based at Camp Bastion in Helmand province and Wg Cdr Murnane and other personnel of the Squadron are scheduled to rotate once again to Afghanistan in the New Year.

During the course of a sparkling reply to the toast to 'Ladies and Guests', Wg Cdr Murnane read a signal he had received from A Flight sending the season's greetings to the Association.

ACA chairman John Thorburn, who had proposed the toast, thanked the guest of honour for his words.  Adding his thanks the president, Air Commodore Tom Bennett CBE, expressed the ACA's unstinted admiration for the work of 18 Squadron and the other helicopter units operating in very dangerous territory and asked that the Association's wishes for a peaceful Christmas and a safe return be conveyed to the members of A Flight.
