At their Annual General Meeting in January, the local branch of the Aircrew Association, meeting in the Flight Centre at Fairoaks Airport, enthusiastically re-elected their present Committee, headed by Chairman Jimmy James, to serve for the next year.

Highlights of the year, covered by various Committee Members, included a very well organised Flying Evening, with 96 members getting airborne in only 90 minutes; an outstanding series of speakers at our regular monthly meetings; the launch of a splendid new Branch Website; an influx of ten new members during the year, bringing a net gain in membership of eight; and the best ever Christmas lunch, fully subscribed, which in addition to being a wonderful social occasion for members and their wives, raised £531 for good causes from the raffle. (Sadly, the outings were not so well supported, and made a loss of about £200 over the year.)

The AGM was very well attended

Following the AGM, members enjoyed a 50-minute film all about the joys of flying a Spitfire, which brought back nostalgic memories for many members. At the next meeting, on Tuesday February 19th, which will as usual be held at 7.30 pm in the Flight Centre at Fairoaks Airport, the speaker will be Tony Morris, Chief Inspector and Head of Engineering at Fairoaks Airport, on "Building and Flying your own Aeroplane".
