|Members at lunch in the Royal Oak, Pirbright|
With many members reluctant to travel in the evening during mid-winter, the monthly meetings for January and February have taken the form of pub lunches. This year the two events have been held at the Royal Oak at Pirbright and members and their wives attending agreed that these social occasions were very enjoyable.
Norman Beale DFM
We record with regret the death of our colleague Norman Beale who served in the RAF as a wireless operator during World War II with nos 142, 44 and 102 Squadrons. Norman flew many operations in Wellington, Blenheim and Halifax bombers and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal. The Association was well represented at his funeral at Woking Crematorium.
News of Casualties
There is more cheerful news here in that both former welfare officer, Ron Houghton, and past chairman, John Thorburn, have returned to their homes following spells in hospital. We send our good wishes to Ron and John as they take the road to recovery.
