At their AGM held at Fairoaks Airport on the 21st January The Woking Branch elected a new Chairman to take over from the very successful three year term of Jimmy James.

Eric Smith GM was elected as the new Chairman. Laurie Taylor was elected Vice-Chair. The Secretary and Treasurer were re-elected to carry on their good work.

Entertainment member Alec Dunbar had done a brilliant job of organising speakers, siocial events and outings - but was now standing down. He was succeeded by a sub-committee of four members under Jimmy James.

The Branch President, Air Commodore Tom Bennett CBE, gave a fullsome vote of thanks to the retiring Chairman for his exceptional leadership and stewardship over the past three years.

At the monthly Raffle over 150 was raised to donate to the MacMillan Nurses in memory of the recently deceased Past President, Sir Peter Mathews CVO, OBE, QPM, DL - former Chief Constable of Surrey - who had been a formidable President of the Woking Branch for many years.

Following the formal AGM a film show charted the build up towards the employment of night fighters during World War 2.

The AGM had agreed to purchase a new slide projector. However, John Morrant, who happened to be the clubhouse, overheard the resolution and volunteered to donate a projector to the Branch. New Chairman Eric Smith was delighted to accept.
