AIRCREW ASSOCIATION
ARCHIVE

The Aircrew Association Archive Trust dissolved as a charity on 30 June 2020.

Nevertheless, the ACA Archive at the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington will endure and continues to welcome contributions.

The Archive exists to record memories and memorabilia of military aircrew and to make sure that key material is carefully preserved and available for research and display.

Please think carefully before discarding any relevant material and consider offering it to the Trust.

See the Trust page for details of how to make contact with the ACA Archivist, who will be delighted to assist.

Ex-Council Lays Wreath at National Arboretum

At 10.30am on Thursday 6th September, in bright sunshine, members of the last ACA Council and partners gathered at the ACA Memorial in the beautifully maintained surroundings of the National Arboretum to lay a wreath in memory of all aircrew. This had been intended to take place on the anniversary of the foundation of the AirCrew Association, 8th September, but forces beyond the control of those attending had made that date impossible.

Nevertheless, in near perfect weather conditions with only a slight crosswind, ex-Chairman Des Richard laid the wreath spot on target at exactly 10.30 hrs without needing a trial run. Providing top-cover to Des were Ray and Jacquie Flack, Helen and Chris Keeling, Patrick and Marion Hobbs, Bob and Margaret Hinds, The Rev Bill and Anne Pegg, (slightly delayed due to enemy roadworks on the run-in), Dave Clark and John Goodsir (recalled to base early).

The group formed up at the Mercure Hotel, Newton Park on the previous evening where plans were laid for this successful operation and the possibility was raised of a repeat function in 2013, either at the Arboretum or at a location to be agreed.
