RAF Winthorpe book signing

On Saturday 15th November 2014 a book signing session featuring Newark Air Museum’s recently published book, RAF Winthorpe – The Story of an Airfield 1939 – 1959 will take place in the Museum Shop, between 10am and 3pm.

Colin Savill, the author of the 216 page book will be on hand to sign copies of the book and to discuss aspects of his research. Anyone who has already purchased copies of the book is welcome to come along to get them signed; while copies of the book can be purchased on the day and they cost £15.00 each.

During World War Two Royal Air Force Winthorpe was a major RAF station providing vital training for aircrews destined for No.5 Group bomber squadrons operating in Lincolnshire. The book tells the story of RAF Winthorpe from its beginnings to its demise as an RAF station.

The book (ISBN 978-0-9500341-6-4) is in a softback format; 216 pages (paper weight: 130gsm); with circa 120 black & white photographs and illustrations; and it includes a Foreword by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Andrew Pulford KCB CBE ADC RAF.

As part of the book signing event the museum will be raffling a Panini Hamper, full of assorted aviation and non-aviation goodies to raise funds for ‘Project Panini – The Build’, which is the museum’s proposed new Education Room& Café facility. Tickets will be sold to visitors throughout Saturday and the raffle will be drawn at 2.30pm.

There is no admission fee due to attend the book signing, however anyone wishing to look round the museum itself will be expected to pay the normal museum admission fee.
